These are some of my absolute favourite toys and props that I use to support a bubs tummy time tolerance and assist with making this important wake time activity engaging and beneficial. 🙌

They are not only great for increasing a baby’s motivation in tummy time but also encouraging various other motor skills such as reaching, head turning, visual and depth perception and symmetry of body movements. What a win! And many of them can also be used for later skills too 💪

Wondering what tummy time should look like for you

Wondering what tummy time should look like for your bub from 4 months + ?💫

Here’s a little snapshot of what to expect

👉🏽 Noticeable improvement in head control and increased tolerance for tummy time on a flat surface.
👉🏽 Bub may start to lift their chest and arms off the surface during tummy time, resembling a swimming motion.
👉🏽At times, bub may become frustrated in tummy time and could begin to attempt or achieve rolling from belly to back.
👉🏽 Your little one may start pressing their palms and forearms into the surface, briefly bearing weight on them.

Ready to spice up your babies crawling game?💫💪

Try this easy implementable exercise to facilitate sustaining quadruped position!

I use this when Bub is demonstrating good pressing through the hands and shoulders in tummy time and has developed enough core control and shoulder strength! 🌟

👉🏽 A good way to tell if this is the case is looking if Bub is actively pressing up nice and high in tummy time, sitting up independently with good control and able to lift feet to hands on back.

If they have a tendency to move their knees out and collapse I help control their hip stability with either my knees, hands or using a headband.

The balance cushion is great because it really helps baby use their shoulders for stability and helps them actively press to not collapse!

I stand by this strongly. When a child receives early treatment they are likely to experience an immense amount of input and changes due to the power of neuro plasticity, early adaptations and the ability to often better tolerate treatment.

This little girl came into my clinic with a family desperate for changes to help their little girl. This little one had a very high level of tone in her calf muscles preventing her from walking with a flat foot. As a result she would find it hard to balance, trip numerous amounts of times and be limited in how far she could walk. She also experienced a lot of pain!

Treating paediatric equinus (toe walking) is not an easy road. It is challenging and long and takes a tremendous amount of patience and work from the family and therapist. We fitted this little one with a brace to support her range and allow her to experience heel toe walking. In addition to this many many repetitions of exercises to bring the centre of gravity back and facilitate heel contact over time. The family has remained diligent with exercises and the results have shown. It makes a huge difference when the exercises are followed through continually at home. Whilst this family will need to continue with occasional brace wearing and exercises it is is incredible to see the progression and power that early intervention can make 🙌

Is your baby so close to rolling but needing that tiny bit of assistance? 🤔

Here are my two favourite exercises to help with this milestone when baby is so close but needing that tiny bit of help to figure out how to move their body 💫

The input through the hip provides them with that tiny bit of support to initiate the roll whilst the wedge provides them with a decline to help support the roll 🙌

We want to see some really good propping on forearms and weight shifting in tummy time whilst good hands to knee play, reaching across the body and tracking toys well from middle to both sides of the body whilst baby is on their back before we give minimal assistance🦶
